Each year, just after the event, people ask if it was a success.
My answer is usually “How do you measure success” ?
We had over 4,000 guests, comprised of families, providers and epilepsy professionals from 39 states and 5 countries. Our family personally spoke to 11 PATIENTS this year who told stories about meeting a surgeon at the 2022 EXPO, and then having successful epilepsy surgery. Many are now seizure free.
Our small team of advocates was able to connect dozens of families with doctors, who took the time to sit with them and listen to their stories. Many of these patients will now be moving on to better care. Our RARE Epilepsy Arena featured 37 exhibitors including 26 RARE Foundations and several new companies with therapies in development or currently in trial. This is growing!
We have captured the attention of every top academic organization in the epilepsy space. We now have participation by the ILAE, IBE, NAEC, ASET, and we are now partnered with Epilepsy Alliance America.
After the EXPO, over 600 guests enjoyed a Halloween Dance Party hosted by Epilepsy Alliance America and several member groups.
On Wednesday, Nov 1st, we shot our largest group photo ever, with over 900 purple event shirts lined up in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.
Overall, we call this a success. We hope to see you in 2024!
